Become a Certified

Certified QiGong Teacher Training

The IIT offers a Certified Qigong Instructor Training to train the next generation of IIT practitioners.  It is our hope that through this teaching program we will be able to help larger portions of the population to experience greater health and happiness.
 

The IIT Certified Qigong Instructor Training is a multi year process.  The student begins by attending an IIT Practitioner Training Program.  The Practitioner Training Program is designed to take students through an intensive, educational, and experiential process, initiating the energetic structures, knowledge and body mechanics to support becoming an IIT Certified Instructor.

Curriculum Overview

This Year 1 Qigong Practitioner Training Program offers a unique blend of physical, meditative, and energetic training rooted in the principles of Chinese Medicine, internal martial arts, Buddhism and Taoism.  Through this course students will develop an understanding of the principles and application of Qigong practice.  They will develop the energetic structures for a robust at-home practice, and curate the skills to apply the lessons of practice to a wide variety of worldly experiences; self healing, applications to job and leadership, developing awareness and connection in relationships, learning to overcome obstacles with creativity and authenticity. 

Course Objectives

- Learn and embody the Eight Stages of Activation
- Open and awaken the Heart (Stages 1 and 2)
- Develop effective movement mechanics to support energetic cultivation
- Establish and maintain a consistent at-home practice
- Lay the foundation for a deep meditative practice. 

Foundational Topics

- History and purpose of Qigong
- The Eight Stages of Activation
- Energetic anatomy: Channels, Dantien, Ming Men, Bin Qi
- Silk pulling and movement mechanics
- Dao Yins and their function
- Basic anatomy as it applies to movement

In-Person Weekend Intensives

Weekend 1
Introduction to the practice and developing a sustainable home practice. Core content includes: silk pulling, expansion principles, Dantien awareness, Heart Stage 1, Wuxi stance, prostration and pushing. Introduction to Feldenkrais Method with 2 ATM lessons (flexion and extension).

Weekend 2
Focus on learning and embodying the Dao Yins. Energetic functions and applications are explored. Includes 2 new ATM lessons (twisting and hips).

Weekend 3
Deepening into the Eight Stages and Dao Yins, exploration of Heart Stage 2 and the central channel. ATMs include lengthening the spine.

Monthly Zoom Sessions

- Zooms 1–3: Reinforcing Weekend 1 – Silk pulling, movement refinement, distribution of effort, ATMs
- Zooms 4–6: Reinforcing Weekend 2 – Dao Yin refinement, functional integration, ATMs
- Zooms 7–8: Reinforcing Weekend 3 – Channel awareness, free movement, meditation, ATMs

Supervised Practice Sessions

Students will participate in 30 zoom supervised practice sessions where students will have the ability to have a guided practice session as well as a period of Q&A to refine technique.  

Individual Practice Sessions

Students will be required to complete a minimum of 200 hours in individual or small group practice sessions.  A log book to keep record of practice sessions will be reviewed at the end of the course.  Supervised practice sessions do count toward the individual practice time. 

Inspiration for the Journey

Year One provides a practical method to learn a system of practice that holds the essence of great spiritual traditions in a simple, approachable form. Through it, physical vitality, emotional joy, and spiritual depth emerge from a coherent and logical framework rooted in nature, intention, differentiation, integration and awareness.

Once the students have completed the Practitioner Training Program they will be eligible to apply for the IIT Certified Qigong Instructor program.
